If you live in an area where termites are a problem, you might already have had the misfortune to experience the trouble they can cause. Unfortunately, it is very hard to spot a termite infestation. Once you spot them, the damage might very well have already been done. Termites are looking for three things. Food, shelter and moisture. If they find easy access to all these factors inside of your home, it will be a tempting target for them.
To avoid being exposed in the first place, you should make sure that you deny easy access to those three things. Any exposed wood on your house should be away from the ground. If it is in contact with the dirt, it will allow termites access to dig in.
Old wood that you might have around your house for a fireplace or stove should be stored away from your home since it could contain termites or allow termites to nest.
